You have GOT to be joking?… April fool or Unbelievable truth?
This years April 1st has seen a plethora of bizarre news stories surface around the globe. Fortunately for you, our expertise is in all things digital rather than all things deceivable, so instead of trying to fool you ourselves we’ve pulled out a collection of the weird and wonderful news stories of the day and will let you decide which to believe!
So in no particular order, the stories of the day are:
Number 1: First sustainable cat food to go on sale this year
Whiskas and Sheba have announced they will become the first pet food suppliers to sell sustainable cat food using Marine Stewardship Council-certified fish. With consumers growing awareness over environmental issues and a number of retailers, such as the Co-op and M&S, already responding to pressure for a more sustainable Britain, the cat food brands are hoping to align themselves with consumer values and benefit from the results.
Number 2: Google Translate for Animals
Google have released a revolutionary application for their android phone that facilitates real conversation between you and your pet (or any animal down the local farm for that matter!) Google have been working with ‘many of the world’s top language synthesis teams, and with leaders in the field of animal cognitive linguistics, including senior fellows at the Bodleian Library in Oxford’ to develop the app; and after personal experience (finally finding out why my dog is scared of the stairs !) I can safely say, this is not one to be missed!
Number 3: Spy Gear for Couples
The news this morning from DSGi’s online business, Pixmania, is that sales of their spy gadgets, such as “ear spy” and a pen that doubles as a video recorder have rocketed in light of the recent celebrity scandals concerning big names such as Tiger Woods, John Terry and Ashley Cole. The brand is so confident in its new found consumer base that they are soon to be releasing “WAG packs”, consisting of a bundle of products ideal for spying on your other half.
Number 4: Grand Theft Auto 3D, coming to an iPad near you
With recent news of games developers working closely with Apple to make the iPad an innovative gaming device, it comes with little surprise that 3D is the next announcement. Using a polarizing screen, that attaches to the iPad, and wearing the classic 3D specs gamers will be able to enjoy all the action of their favourite game, actually in their living room! So next time you see that teenager ducking and diving around on the train, don’t worry – they’re probably just playing GTA4!
And last but not least..
Number 5: World’s hottest Chilli
The Sun reported today on the Worlds hottest chilli, grown in Grantham! The chilli, named ‘Infinity’ ranks a whooping 1,067,286 Scoville heat units, an impressive 25,859 hotter than the Bhut Jolokia (the former record holder). It is claimed that the chilli, if eaten by novices, can hospitalise the person with severe mouth blisters and burns… Not for the faint hearted!
