Google Chrome Web Store launching in October
To tie in with the launch of the Chrome OS later this year Google is planning to launch the Chrome Web Store – an open marketplace for HTML5 web apps. It is a move to make the Chrome OS a credible platform in a market where Microsoft and Apple (with the Mac OS and iOS) currently dominate.
They seem to be targeting the gaming and TV markets specifically with the store; and in a move to attract developers they will require a processing fee of 5% which is a major plus point compared to the Apple app store which demands a 30% cut of revenues generated.
It also gives Google the opportunity to expand on the social platform; an area where they have tried to expand many times previously in a market dominated by Facebook.Tweet
